Mesquite Championship Rodeo Arena
If there's one event that defines Texas, it has to be the rodeo. The Mesquite Rodeo Arena is no exception. If there's one thing you need to do, whether you are a local or a tourist, it would be this event.
So what exactly is a rodeo? It is essentially a showing of the finest cowboys riding the toughest and the meanest bulls and broncos. It is the ultimate test of a cowboys' skills. The Mesquite Rodeo Arena was built back in 1986 and to this day stands as one of the best rodeos in all of Texas. It can house up to a whopping 7000 people. Although the arena is best known for its rodeo act, there are plenty of events that take place within. Among them are concerts, private events, fundraisers, MMA fights, and those good old monster trucks! The facility has an array of features that really captures the essence of Texas. From the barbecue pavilion, to the 60+ luxury suites, the 8-second club, and the in-house catering, you really get the whole package if you are looking to hold an event of any kind. Let's talk about the main attraction though, the rodeo itself. The event starts in June and goes on until September. Yes, in the peak of summer but worry not because the one factor that sets it apart from the rest is that it is an indoor facility (with air conditioning) so you can enjoy with your family despite the grueling Texas heat. Being indoors isn't the only advantage though, the bull riders and the calf roping are among the best you will ever have the pleasure of watching. Enjoy and take in the breathtaking performances from the skilled cowboys and cowgirls. There are concession stands to service you all day for food and drinks. What's more, your children can get in on the fun as there are plenty of activities for the adults and kids alike. As Mesquite local, I'm often asked if there's only place I could visit in the city, what would it be? The answer almost always is the Mesquite Championship Rodeo Arena.
